Are you looking for a meaningful activity for your church group?
My kintsugi workshops for Relief Society weaves together elements from my own story with the rich symbolism of kintsugi to emphasize the role and love of our Savior, Jesus Christ, in our own personal journeys of healing.
Because I want these Christian workshops to be as accessible as possible, I offer these at-cost. Meaning the organization would only be covering the materials cost, there is no teaching fee.
These workshops are two parts. First, Kelsie will give a presentation regarding "Finding Christ in Kintsugi". This allows attendees to learn a brief introduction to the history and symbolism behind kintsugi and explore how it can be related to the healing power that Christ offers each of us.
Because these workshops are offered at-cost and my time is donated, I only offer a certain number of these per year. If your Relief Society group is interested in hosting a kintsugi workshop, please reach out so we can get you scheduled!
Helpful information
Please plan for a 2.5-3 hour window for the actual workshop. This will ensure we have enough time for the presentation, hands-on instruction and the opportunity for each participant to practice kintsugi on a small vessel that they can take home. I would also account for 1-1.5 hrs. ahead of the workshop for setup time and an hour afterwards for clean-up. Meaning when scheduling a room within the church for use (most schedule the gym), it would be best to have 5-6 hour span blocked out.
I provide all materials needed for the workshop and will also bring Christian decor that nicely ties in with the theme. I normally aim to bring at least one volunteer with me to assist with the workshop, but having the Relief Society Activities Committee members assist with setup/take-down is also much appreciated.
I am located in Utah County, depending on where the workshop is held there may be a need for a travel fee. I do all I can to keep these workshops as affordable as possible.
