Kintsugi as Conference Workshop Activity

Are you hosting a women's conference, convention, or retreat, and looking to add a meaningful workshop?

A kintsugi workshop just might be the right fit! Including a kintsugi workshop is a unique way to cultivate an atmosphere of hope, healing and belonging.

These workshops not only allow participants to practice a modernized version of the Japanese art form "Kintsugi", they are also paired with a meaningful presentation. Kelsie will take the opportunity to share a brief history of the symbolism behind kintsugi, and share parts of her own personal narrative regarding navigating life after trauma.

Participants will learn about the correlations that can be found between the repairs being made on a vessel, and the repairs that they strive for in their own lives. Then, each participant will have the opportunity to practice a modernized version of kintsugi so they can have a take-home piece to remember the symbolism that was taught.

This workshop aids in gaining a higher tolerance for self-acceptance and recognizing the resilience and strength that can come from the hardships we go through.

There are two main class types for these workshops:

  • The Simplified Gold Flush Method can be done in one sitting and typically lasts approximately 3 hours (time varies based on materials used and how quickly participant's repairs happen).
  • The Full Flush Method is split into two days, for about 4.5-5 hours total, and adds filling missing pieces, which also has rich symbolism.
